TITLE: Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the City Commission Board and Committee Assignments for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
Recommended Action
Discussion and possible action regarding the City Commission Board and Committee assignments for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
City Commission Options
Option 1: Maintain the current City Commission Board and Committee assignments for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, with newly elected Commissioners assuming the assignments of their respective predecessors.
Pro: Maintains continuity in Board and Committee representation while allowing for a seamless transition of responsibilities to incoming Commissioners.
Con: Incoming Commissioners may have limited flexibility in selecting Board and Committee assignments that align with their individual interests, experience, or areas of expertise.
Option 2: Reassign City Commission Board and Committee positions for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
Pro: Provides Commissioners with the opportunity to gain new experience and fresh perspectives serving on different Boards and Committees.
Con: Could temporarily disrupt Board and Committee operations as Commissioners adjust to new roles.
Background Information
In accordance with past practice, as we begin a new fiscal year, it is necessary for the City Commission to review and assign Commissioners to the City’s Boards and Committees for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. These assignments ensure that the City has consistent representation on regional, County, and community Boards and Committees, allowing Commissioners to actively participate in decision-making and collaborate on issues that affect the community.
