Approval of the addition of two mobile command units for 2024 Federal legislative funding.
Background Information
At the September 12, 2023, Regular Commission meeting, Commission approved the following projects for funding consideration during the State and Federal legislative cycles:
Ø Price Boulevard Improvements
Ø Water and Sewer Service Expansion
Ø Bridge Improvements
Ø Water Control Structures
The items were approved on consent.
Price Boulevard Improvements and Water and Sewer Service Expansion requests were submitted to the state for the funding cycles, which is now closed until this fall. Meanwhile, Bridge Improvements and Water Control Structures have been submitted for consideration under Resilient SRQ.
The federal appropriations legislative funding cycle is anticipated to open soon. Staff proposes adding two projects to the Federal legislative funding cycle for consideration:
Ø Fire Mobile Command Unit
Ø Police Mobile Emergency Communications Center Command Unit
The Fire Mobile Command Unit was submitted to Resilient SRQ for funding consideration. However, there's a possibility that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will deem the request ineligible, potentially resulting in a lower score compared to other projects.
